It's perfectly okay to hug a sooty firefighter

On Monday afternoon, I received a text from Joanna Ullman, the wife of a Roseau volunteer fireman, who had a great suggestion.

So, I called her.

Every wife or girlfriend of a local fireman knows the routine when the fire whistle and their beepers go off late at night.

It's "Hurry up, honey! Don't be a slowpoke!"

And they definitely put the pedal to the metal to get to the fire hall at 2 a.m. or whatever the time.

Joanna wants people to email their comments about our local firefighters to help celebrate their September 18 Annual Firemen's Banquet and Ball.
