It was a season for the record books for our Roseau youth wrestlers. Some big accomplishments were reached by our K-6th grade wrestlers as registration numbers reached 95 kids with the addition of the girls wrestling program, which included a total of 28 girls for their inaugural season. Hard to top that! As the program has grown increasingly larger over the last five years, so has the overall success of the individual wrestlers as a whole. In return, a very competitive dual team lineup has...
Submitted by Jim Mack Over the last five years, the Roseau youth wrestling program has grown by leaps and bounds. The improvements of the program were on full display last Saturday at the annual TRF Prowler Team Duals held at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls. With the high amount of youth wrestling numbers over the last three years, Roseau was the only program to enter two teams into the large team tournament. With both teams (Roseau Black and Roseau Green) having great success on...

Last weekend in Greenbush, 32 of our youth wrestlers competed in the NYWA District Qualifier. Wrestlers from across northern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota competed in the tournament. Roseau wrestlers faced strong competition, but fared well and left positive results on the mat. To have 31 wrestlers competing at this stage of the season is a great sign in the quality type of kids we have wrestling right now in the program. Winning District Championships at their respective weight classes were Declan Hodny, Broden Larson, Meryk Ullman, Cael...
Many youth wrestlers from around the north part of the state were in attendance for the Roseau Youth Wrestling Tournament last Saturday at the Roseau High School. Youth wrestlers from afar filled the gym for what turned out to be a well prepared, and smoothly run tournament by the Roseau Wrestling Club. Our wrestling club members, and multiple youth parents showed up in advance to help set up the tournament. It’s these individuals’ commitment and dedication to our local wrestling club that is creating a winning atmosphere for our youth wre...
Some of our Roseau youth wrestlers were back in action again this past weekend as they traveled to either Blackduck or to Warren to compete in their tournaments. In all, Roseau had 26 wrestlers competing in grades PreK through 6th grade at the two tournaments. Our wrestlers had fun with their teammates and they competed hard to represent our program and community with pride. Ram wrestlers finishing the day with an undefeated record and a title spot at the top of the podium were Brevyn Srnsky-Wagner, Weston Sprabary, Wyatt Peterson, Ben...
To be part of something special is a rare opportunity for anyone. As a first year coach of the Roseau youth wrestling program, I’ve had the privilege of teaching the sport of wrestling to multiple young athletes in the Roseau community this season. With over 50 elementary aged kids having stepped into the wrestling room for practices this year, there’s a definite feel for something special happening within the youth wrestling program in Roseau. The energy level these kids have is motivating to say the least for assistant coach Justin Olson and...
