  • Lelia Johnson Returns to 2021 State CC Meet!

    Randy Nelson|Nov 6, 2021

Submitted by Coach Randy Nelson It has been a strange and interesting CC season for the Roseau Rams, which I guess can be expected to go along with everything else that is going on these days. CC is a sport that has all participants at the same level racing at the same time. The Jr. High race is 2 miles long, while JV and Varsity race together over a 5K (3.12 miles) course. These races are usually on Golf Courses. Last year was a very difficult season because all the meets had to be mini-meets,...

  • Cross-Country Off to a Good Start for 2020 Season

    Randy Nelson|Sep 19, 2020

Submitted by Coach Randy Nelson The Roseau Cross-Country team has been practicing since the 17th of September. Despite the coronavirus situation, the MSHSL decided that CC could have a shortened season, with CC being more of an individual, outdoor, distanced kind of sport. Several major changes were in effect. The season was shorter--only 80%. Teams could only participate in 7 meets instead of the regular 10 meet season. Meets could only include 3 teams at one site at a time, with only 25...

  • NW Conference CC Meet

    Randy Nelson|Oct 26, 2019

by Randy Nelson On October 8th the NW Conference CC Meet was held in Warren. Like everywhere else in NW MN, the Warren Golf Course was soft with standing water all over the place. This did not dampen the spirits or the will of the CC runners who by now are used to running in mud, rain, and water. The teams that make up the NW CC Conference are: Ada-NCW, Bagley/ Fosston, Clearbrook/Gonvick, Crookston, EGF, Fisher/Climax, Roseau, Red Lake County Central, Warroad, West Marshall, and Lake of the Woo... Full story

  • ROSEAU CROSS COUNTRY RUNS WELL AT WARROAD!

    Randy Nelson|Sep 14, 2019

by Randy Nelson It was another fun day for the Rams Cross Country Team on Monday, September 9 in Warroad. Running conditions were cloudy and cool and the forecast was 100% for light rain at race time, but the Rams were ready to give it their best shot. Thanks to the many fans and parents that came out once again to show their support. Cross-Country is a hard sport to watch because the meets happen during the early afternoon, making it hard for a lot of people to get to them. With the weather promising to be wet, it was especially nice to see...

  • Roseau Cross Country

    Randy Nelson|Sep 7, 2019

by: Randy Nelson The Roseau Rams Cross Country team is off and running. The temperatures have been great and the runners are working hard. The team enjoyed a speed workout at Hayes Lake State Park during the second week of practice. The trails were nice and the morning was cool as the workout began. It was a good team-building workout day. There are 44 boys and 11 girls out for cross country this year. Thanks to all the patient drivers around Roseau and the surrounding community for letting the CC runners cross the roads as a group! It is...

  • Section 8A Cross Country Meet

    Randy Nelson|Nov 3, 2018

The Section 8A Cross Country Meet was held at Bagley, on October 26. Unlike last year with 6” of snow on the ground and 32 degrees, this year was a nice 45 degrees with only mist and light rain for precipitation. This made for good running conditions overall. Although the ground was rather soft in places, the conditions and weather did not affect the times nor did it play a major role in the outcome of the section 8A cross country season. Perham, the dominating team of the last decade in Section 8A Cross country easily won both the girls and b...

  • Roseau CC competes at Bagley

    Randy Nelson|Sep 22, 2018

When the Rams CC Team showed up at Bagley they found 25 other teams, all wanting to run the course where the Section 8A meet will be held later in October. The Bagley course is challenging, with a combination of hills, long grades, and soft ground. However, the course is a good one for spectators to view as the runners compete along an open path. Our girls varsity team placed 12th out of 25 teams and the boys finished eighth out of 25 teams. Reese Strand was the top varsity girls Ram finisher, followed by Faith Restad, Madicyn Holmgren, Autumn...

  • RAMS CC off to Great start in 2018

    Randy Nelson|Sep 15, 2018

The Roseau Rams Cross Country team hosted a meet at Oakcrest Golf Course on Thursday, September 6. As usual, Carson Hedlund and his crew have the course in amazing shape, making it a great place to hold a meet. Besides the hosting Rams, seven other teams showed up for this meet: East Grand Forks, Crookston, Clearbrook/Gonvick, Lake of the Woods/ Indus, Warroad, West Marshall, and International Falls. As the meet began, the temperature was in the low 70s. The first race was a fun run for...

  • Section 8A Cross Country Meet

    Randy Nelson|Nov 11, 2017

The Section 8A Cross Country Meet was held at Bagley, on October 27. With the temperature at 32 degrees, a sharp north wind, and 6" of snow on the ground, it promised to be a challenge for all the runners. After having an ideal season of fall weather for cross country meets, mother nature was balancing things out drastically. Snow and cold weather usually affects certain runners negatively and gives advantages to other runners. The times and mile splits would not matter in a race of this kind....

  • NW Conference CC Meet Held in Roseau

    Randy Nelson|Oct 21, 2017

It was a beautiful day at Oakcrest Golf Course as the NW Conference CC teams showed up to race. Up for grabs were two Traveling trophies for both the varsity boys and girls and all conference plaques for the top 15 runners. Jr High runners were running for 15 all-conference ribbons. Last year the varsity boys from Ada and the girls from EGF won the traveling trophies, so they brought them back hoping to defend the right to keep them for another year. The EGF girls and boys Varsity teams ended up winning and taking both the trophies. Ada was...

  • Roseau Cross-Country competes in EGF, September 28

    Randy Nelson|Oct 7, 2017

It was a beautiful day last Thursday in EGF when the Roseau CC team showed up for the 7th meet of the 2017 season. The area teams were present, along with a team from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Jr. High races were first. For Roseau Jessa Dahl came across the line, beating her teammate, Emily Restad, by 1 second. Nevaiah Butler also finished well, getting a personal best time for the season, which is always fun. The Roseau Jr. High boys did very well, winning the meet outright. Gram Lovgren took...

Our girls varsity team placed 14th out of 20 teams and the boys finished 9th out of 20 teams. Reese Strand was the top varsity girls Ram...

  • ROSEAU CROSS COUNTRY RUNS WELL AT WARROAD!

    Randy Nelson|Sep 23, 2017

It was another fun day for the Rams Cross Country Team on Monday, September 11 in Warroad. Running conditions were a little warmer than most runners enjoy for a distance race, but the Rams were ready to give it their best shot. Thanks to the many fans and parents that came out once again to show their support. Cross-Country is a hard sport to watch because the meets happen during the early afternoon, making it hard for a lot of people to get to them. The girls Junior High runners went first....

On Saturday, June 4th the Section 8A Track meet was held in Warren. Thirty teams make up section 8A in Track. After the Subsection 31 meet, held the week prior, 21 Roseau athletes advanced to the Section meet. At sections the top 2 individuals and the top 2 relays would qualify for the state meet. Randy Nelson|Jun 18, 2016

The Minnesota State High School League Class A Track Meet was held on Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11. Five Roseau athletes made the trip this year. Reilly Stroot, undefeated on the season (hoping to outdo his 4th place state finish from last year); Maddie Jerome, excited to hurdle at state again (excited and thankful to get the chance to participate after breaking her collar bone last year); Beechestore Stroot (ready to throw the disc and seeded eighth in the state coming in); Scott...

  • Roseau Track

    Randy Nelson|May 21, 2016

The Roseau Track Team has had to battle extreme elements this season, mostly in the form of some cool temperatures and stiff winds. Hopefully with subsections and sections coming up, the Rams will be able to benefit from overcoming these elements all spring long. On May 3 both the boys and girls teams competed at Crookston’s UMC track. Despite the weather, there were a lot of quality performances for the Ram athletes. Starting the day off well were Maddie Jerome and Gracie Helgeson, placing 1st and 2nd, respectively, for the Rams in the 100m hu...
