    Jodi Wojciechowski|Feb 23, 2019

Corey Lundberg recently purchased Goin' Postal and changed the name to Ship Shop. Corey is originally from Kennedy, but has lived in Warroad for the past eight years. He recently had the opportunity to become a member of the Roseau business community and didn't hesitate. "I am very happy to provide Roseau with all their shipping needs and more," he said. Ship Shop is the area's only authorized shipper for U.S. Postal services, FedEx, UPS, and SpeeDee. They are also a FedEx and UPS drop-off site....

  • Kacie Borowicz sets school scoring record

    Jeff Olsen|Feb 23, 2019

It took 22 years before anyone could top the remarkable Megan Taylor's school record of 3,300 points. Taylor, who graduated from RHS in 1997, was the all-time leading scorer in Minnesota basketball history by the end of her high school career. She did it all! Last Saturday against the International Falls Broncos in the RHS gymnasium, Roseau fans cheered on the Rams and Kacie, a whiz on the basketball court who was closing in on Megan's scoring record. Kacie B did not disappoint her hometown...

  • The 22nd Wannaska Lions Fishing Derby was a wild one

    Jeff Olsen|Feb 23, 2019

Last Saturday on Hayes Lake, it was a holiday on ice, a family reunion and, at times, a madcap scramble to maneuver around the slush. It was no heat wave. There was too much snow which made walking tougher with water seeping up through the thick snow, especially for those groups pulling toboggans and sleds out on the lake. With less than an hour remaining in the contest, which ended at 3 p.m., here came three gals. It was their closing time. One of them had to get to work, and the other two...

  • You never asked me, but...

    Jeff Olsen|Feb 23, 2019

I was an infant in early 1944 when Father Driscoll, an old Irish priest, splashed some Holy Water on my bare noggin, made the Sign of the Cross on my forehead, and baptized me in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen! Of course, I don't remember it. But I'll never forget Father Driscoll, for whom I was an altar boy when the Mass was said in Latin in the 1950s, and he was a cantankerous old priest who didn't take a fancy to babies crying loudly at Mass on Sundays when he...

  • One day at a time!

    Jodi Wojciechowski|Feb 23, 2019

One would think life would slow down with the medical/health issues. But “bring it on” is my new motto. My sciatica is still a pain and probably will be for awhile, the way it is acting. I will update you when it is back to normal. That is if I remember what normal is anymore. Other than my sciatic, life was going along pretty smoothly until Kyle put a little twist/scare into our life. I mean who can go a whole week with nothing happening. That would be so boring!! It was time to get up, but...

  • Walz Challenges Line 3 Pipeline Replacement

    Feb 23, 2019

Last week, Governor Walz chose to continue challenging the Line 3 pipeline replacement – a badly needed project to replace an aging pipeline that runs across northern Minnesota. The project is critically important for several reasons. Line 3 would be the largest private infrastructure investment in Minnesota history. It would inject billions into Minnesota's economy, boost property tax revenue for counties, townships, and schools, create thousands of good-paying jobs for laborers, take oil traffic off our railroads, and stimulate local economie...

  • Cyber Bullying is Taking More and More Lives Everyday

    Feb 23, 2019

For almost a year my family and my company has been under attack from another business owner in town. Through the use of Social Media he has been able to spread his discontent to others in the community. I have personally heard this in town from people that have never even met us that they will not visit our business because of what they have heard in town. We have always taken the high road through these challenging times, never retaliating or striking back, but recently the barrage of garbage became too hard to ignore. We sent the person a...

    Jeff Olsen|Feb 23, 2019

So much for bus legs, which the St. Cloud squad should have had after a five hour bus ride up to Roseau this past Tuesday. Believe it! The lads from St. Cloud skated just fine. Additionally, they were the seventh seed in the Section 8AA Hockey Playoffs and were playing in Roseau Memorial Arena against the second seed. Nobody expected a blowout, but these Rams had a battle on their hands all night. Did they ever! St. Cloud had goalie Soren Falloon with ice in his veins while the Rams had Oliver...

    Gregg Iverson|Feb 23, 2019

By Gregg Iverson The Roseau Rams boys basketball team traveled to Bagley on Valentine’s Day and played a sweetheart of a game! This would be a key section game and after taking two consecutive losses the week before, Coach Hayden and the team were looking to get back on track. The Rams scored first, but the Flyer's were keeping themselves in check by not allowing the Rams to get too much of a comfortable lead. Having said that, they would tie up the game at 13 early in the first half. Soon after, the Rams took control of the rest of the half g...
